Reflecting on 30 years of Dearneside Fabrications

As we approach the end of our 30 year anniversary celebrations this month, we spoke with our Managing Director, Paul Muldoon, to reflect on Dearneside’s journey, achievements and the principles that have guided us since our founding in 1994. Paul gave us a few of his key thoughts about what he believes has led to the success of Dearneside Fabrications.

A commitment to youth and education

One of my main goals from the beginning was to increase the number of young people working in the engineering sector in Sheffield. Our commitment to this goal has enriched our company and contributed significantly to the local community and industry.

Partnership with AMRC

In recent years, Dearneside Fabrications has proudly partnered with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). This collaboration has been instrumental in fostering the training and development of young engineers.

We have established robust training programs to equip young engineers with the necessary skills and knowledge. These programs are designed to provide hands-on experience and foster innovation.

The partnership with AMRC has led to an impressive intake of young talent who have excelled in their training and development. These young professionals have earned numerous awards .

Continuous professional development opportunities ensure that our young employees stay abreast of technological advancements and industry best practices.

Employee loyalty and growth

As Dearneside has grown, we have been fortunate to retain our employees, many of whom have been with us since the early days. Their dedication and expertise have been crucial to our success.

Our focus on employee well-being and professional growth has resulted in a loyal and skilled workforce, contributing to our reputation as an employer of choice in the engineering sector.

Open-door policy

From the outset, we have operated an open-door policy with our staff, fostering a culture of transparency, trust, and open communication. This approach has helped build a strong, cohesive team where everyone feels valued and heard.

I believe maintaining an open-door policy is essential for continuous improvement and innovation. It allows us to promptly address concerns, encourage new ideas, and ensure every employee feels part of our success.

Celebrating milestones and looking to the future

Over 30 years, Dearneside Fabrications has reached numerous milestones, including technological advancements and industry recognition.

Our commitment to sustainability has led to adopting eco-friendly practices and developing products that support sustainable building and manufacturing.

A final message

When I established Dearneside Fabrications 30 years ago, my vision was to create a company that excels and plays a pivotal role in developing the next generation of engineers in Sheffield. Seeing our young engineers thrive and our employees stay with us through the years is incredibly gratifying. Our growth and success are a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication. I remain committed to fostering an inclusive, innovative, and supportive work environment as we celebrate this milestone. The open-door policy that has served us well will continue to be a cornerstone of our company culture.

Here’s to celebrating 30 years of excellence, and we are looking forward to many more years of growth, innovation, and success together!
